Poetry Workshop with Lesléa Newman

After five years serving on the board of the Friends of the Whately Library, I’m moving on, (though not far). For a great last act, we booked Lesléa Newman http://www.lesleakids.com/ to offer a free Poetry Workshop this coming Saturday, April 24, from 10 a.m. to noon. Lesléa, the author of more than sixty books, says:

“Everyone is welcome, whether you want to write but think you have nothing to say, or know you have something to say but don’t know how to say it. Using simple writing exercises, we will use memory, observation skills and imagination to write poems that express the emotional truths of your lives. No previous writing experience is necessary. Bring something to write with, something to write on, and an open heart and mind.”

The event, sponsored by the Friends of the Library and the Whately Cultural Council, is free and open to all teens and adults. I’m really looking forward to it and hope you’ll come if you live nearby to the library at 202 Chestnut Plain Road. Or pass the word.
