I’m working on two books, taking a turn with each, as seems to be my habit. When I run of out of breath with one I move to the other, and when I swap after a month or two I feel eager about the return. It’s also my way to write scenes out of order, but I usually stick with a section until it feels as clean as I can make it at the moment. I’m not saying my creativity is so precious that I can’t ever nudge scenes to another season, but it seems unlucky to move from a place where ideas are still rising. I’m going to wait it out. Even though in both books I’m entrenched in January.
Here’s a picture of what I saw yesterday to remind myself of the world I live in. Where the sun is shining.
I love spring! Blossoms and daffodils and tulips make me happy! Ooh, and my peonies and azaleas are about to bloom.

If you squint, those blossoms could be tufts of snow. Right?

Ah, I can almost smell those.
And two books! Wonderful. 🙂
And I’m perpetually stuck in cool rainy late fall.

It is very hard not to smile when you’re looking at a daffodil. I like hearing spring reports from a little south, knowing it’s coming. (even if they’re saying we might see snow again in Mass. this weekend… I didn’t ask for it!)

We wait through a lot of winter for the one or two weeks of true spring, but right now it seems so worth it!
Congratulations on winning a copy of Borrowed Names at Joyce’s blog! Yay!

How can you juggle two stories at once? Amazing….
On my side of the world, volcanic clouds threatens to block the sun. They can’t be seen, but airspace is closed, people are stranded everywhere.
In newspapers are stories of how the previous ice age came to be….
But for now I listen to the tulips, as they break through layers of brown leaves and earth.
